Trio 3.0 — Tenderness has its strategies

Trio 3.0 La douceur a ses stratégies

Trio 3.0 — Tenderness has its strategies is a piece for three trans women that combines dance, performance, and storytelling. It takes as its starting point what binds us together: surviving, desiring, standing tall, and finding together the collective strengths that are vital to us.

Since To the Point (2021), my work has engaged audiences in a direct, straightforward, but violent free relationship. I cherish that moment when we all realize that what is happening only exists because we are together, each in different places but with a shared responsibility.

In Trio 3.0, this approach is sharpened: the audience is invited into a dynamic of exchanged gazes, sometimes active, sometimes complicit, sometimes protected, never neutral.

My work continues to intertwine with the practice of lap dancing, experienced as a space of singular address, vulnerable power, and redistribution of the gaze. A dance designed for one person, but which always exposes another; a geography of desire that interests us for what it displaces.

Trio 3.0 questions how we exist as trans women: agents of our own lives and not just fetishes, desiring and complex human beings.

We embody our collective strength as an act of resistance. We offer a space of transformation, for ourselves and for the audience, where spectators are not mere witnesses: they accompany us, feel with us, and walk with us along the paths of mental health, survival, peer and community support.

Trio 3.0 is as much a shared utopian microcosm as it is a declaration: to exist, to desire, to resist. Here, we cultivate our powers of action and are no longer just fantasies that attract or generate rejection.
